Wedding customs around the world
I've founded Swedens most visited wedding site and have during the years learned some surprising facts about how different wedding customs can be around the world.
Did you know that in Sweden the woman’s engagement ring is just a gold band, no diamond. A diamond ring is usually given on the wedding instead, which is quite opposite than all English speaking countries. The engagement ring is usually not a surprise here as well, most of the time it is bought together and going down on knees is not very common here as well.
You know what, in Sweden many couples also live together without ever getting married.
Please share your thoughts here...

Yes, we lived together for 6 years before we married. 3 kids were born in that time too!

We lived together for three years before we married. That's almost 33 years ago and still married. Yes, with the same "girl".

I've heard about getting married in the Ice hotel (
www.icehotel.com/) is that how Swedes get merried?
That´s something for the tourists from the south of Sweden or from other countries. Something for them, who want something different and special.

I am married for the second time. The first marriage came after 6 years of living together and we had two kids as well. The second marriage came after my new husband and I had lived together for 4 years and took place at our daugthers christening.

This morning on the bus, I heard an interview on the radio. It was someone who works at the icehotel. She said, that last year about 50% of the couples were from Sweden, 40% was from Great Britain and 10% from other countries.
